Well, it’s February 1st and everyone is watching the Bowl on tv. Puppy Bowl V (Animal Planet) that is! Actually, Jake really isn’t into it (he did love the Kitty Half Time Show) but Maggie cannot stop barking at the screen. I guess she wants to join in! The requisite Bowl snacks were provided – kibble and rawhide chewies.
(In all seriousness, if you’ve never seen the Puppy Bowl, you really should watch it for a little while next year. It’s quite entertaining, complete with play by play announcing and a referee on the field.)
So – today it was warm – up to 44, I think! All the huge icicles are melting off the roof and the ice dam or, more appropriately DAMN, problems seem to be over for this year. (For those of you who don’t know what that is – ice builds up on the roof, melts underneath the top layer of ice, water works under the roof shingles and into the house.) When the icicles melt, they break off and crash down. This upsets Jake (he’s easily upset) and he barks. He’s protecting us from the icicles.
I finished my Herringbone Mittens. I like the way they turned out and I finished them in time for the Ravelry KAL (Naknimitmo – National Knit Mittens Month) deadline! I am obsessed with all things Ravelry and cannot believe all the groups out there. I discovered a group of German knitters that are knitting a pair of socks each month, using themes from Grimm’s Fairy Tales! How cool is that?
If ONLY I still remembered anything in German other than a random swear word and how to say I love you (Ich Liebe Dich). I don’t know how I could knit a pair of socks every month, anyway! That seems like a lot of knitting (and socks). The amount of talented knitters and designers out there is amazing. Makes me feel like a hack.
In my zeal to rid my house of all things extranneous, today I cleaned out the armoire. I’m giving away my stereo stuff. I also finally decided to get rid of my old (1970s) Minolta 35mm camera. I haven’t used it since I bought my first digital camera. Since I will never take up “art” photography or processing film, it needs to go. As Jen said – if I haven’t used something in a year, it’s time to rethink keeping it. Someday, I will copy all my CDs onto my computer and get rid of them, too. So much neater! I’m TRYING to be a neat (as in clean and organized) person!
Of course, tomorrow is Groundhog Day. What a weird “holiday”! Tonight the movie “Groundhog Day” was on, which I really like. Imagine what it would be like to have to repeat the same day over and over until you get it “right”.
Well – that’s about it for a Sunday evening. I got a lot done today (woo hoo) so now I can relax and knit (errr….actually have to frog mittens I screwed up!). Later. Kathy
